Income and expenses
How to add, edit, and assign pay and bills.
Anatomy of a line
Every income or expense line has:
- Name — e.g. “Salary (Alex)”, “Rent”
- Amount — positive dollars per period
- Frequency — once, daily, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, biannually, yearly
- Start date — when it begins in the plan
- End date (optional) — leave empty if ongoing
- Category — for grouping
- Person (optional) — who it belongs to
Tips for pay
- Enter take-home (what hits the bank), not gross, unless you are modelling tax separately.
- Use the Tax calculator on Calculators if you want a planning estimate of tax, Medicare, HECS, then apply take-home to a salary line.
- Second jobs and side income are separate lines.
Tips for bills
- Match the real cadence: car insurance yearly, rates quarterly, Netflix monthly.
- Debt minimums should be expenses even if you also track the loan balance under Calculators.
- Shared bills can stay “whole household” or be split with two lines per person.
Editing and adding
- Add sits at the top of the page and opens a centred panel.
- Edit expands the row in place so you do not jump to the bottom.
- Currency fields use grey placeholders — no sticky zeros.
